A year in review

Looking back over a busy 2017

We've had a busy year throughout 2017, including new products, exhibitions, workshops and exciting customer challenges across our broad range of markets - from Oceans and Coastal, to Pharmaceutical.

Xylem Analytics On Tour

Our teams have travelled the country this year with exhibitions as far apart as Seawork International in Southampton, Lab Innovations in Birmingham, before making a splash at Offshore Europe, held this year in Aberdeen. New products were on show this year, including the Amazon Bubbler, EXO 3 Sondes and the ADP 450 Polarimeter with XPC technology. Through our unique brands and products, customers were able to see how Xylem Analytics can provide complete solutions with our knowledge across a gamut of applications.

Working Together

A great example of this has been the launch of the rQPOD. Designed in collaboration with users of the SonTek M9 and S5 RiverSurveyor ADCP systems, the rQPOD Remote Boat brings together a number of Xylem's technological brands including SonTek, HYPACK and YSI to provide the worlds most innovative hydrographic and bathymetric survey systems.

The rQPOD is a modular system that when attached to Xylem's Torrent Board v7 transforms it into a motorised platform. With the addition of SonTek M9 and S5 RiverSurveyor ADCP systems, the Torrent Board v7 is capable of remote shore operation for easy collection of ADCP data.

The MOTUS Wave Sensor was also launched this year. The Aanderaa MOTUS Wave Sensor 5729 is a directional wave sensor module for use on surface buoys. The MOTUS Wave Sensor is an integrated part of Tideland SB 138P MOTUS Buoy and YSI EMM 2.0 MOTUS Buoy. Designed with both commercial as well as research use in mind, the sensor processes wave data and is configurable to present parameters and wave spectrum directly. Another fantastic example of Xylem brands coming together to offer complete solutions.

External Partnerships

It's not just internal partnerships we've been working on either. This year saw Offshore Sensing AS team up with Aanderaa to deploy sensing and data gathering technology within the exciting new SailBuoy - an autonomous ocean vessel sending back realtime data from just below the surface of the world's oceans months at a time.

Sharing Knowledge

In April HYPACK hosted a great learning event in Nottingham. The two day seminar and training focussed on Geodesy (hardwawre and vessel setup), Collection of single and multi-beam data, as well as data processing, sonar modules and a look at HYPACK 2017 software updates and how to utilise them to your advantage. Keep checking our news pages or follow us on social media for updates and the chance to attend one of our 2018 training events around the UK.

Throughout the year our Wastewater team has produced several application notes providing useful information with a focus on activated sludge process optimisation. We definitely recommend you checkout the app notes on Accurate dissolved oxygen measurement in challenging conditions, and Dissolved oxygen control through measurement of ammonium: ISE vs Wet chemistry.

Don't Lose Out, Trade-In
